Description

Myth-Makers: “Where storytelling meets change-making with mythical consequences.”

Are you a campaigner struggling to get people to listen to you? A local activist desperate to get your story heard by an important decision-maker? A fundraiser on the look out for inspiration to mobilise people to support your cause? Or an artist hoping to make a difference with your work?

This Myth-Makers workshop will equip you with the storytelling and empathy skills needed for building community and inspiring others to take action. You will craft stories with heart, depth and hope. Stories that don't shy away from the truth but can offer direction as well. Stories of change that are even bigger than the problems the world is facing. In other words, myths.

During this one-day workshop you will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of what makes a great story: plot, character, conflict and texture.
  • Explore how mythology can improve your storytelling and change-making skills.
  • Use metaphor and empathy to tell deeper, more compelling stories.
  • Apply these skills to communicating about yourself, your work and contemporary issues.
  • Examine how stories can be used to build community and inspire people to take action.

The day will be structured around a number of verbal, imaginative and creative writing exercises. These skills will then be applied to issues you care about, as you harness the power of mythology to tell inspiring stories about the change you are making. There are ten places available for the day.

Suitable for: social entrepreneurs, campaigners, leaders, public speakers, coaches, people in business, innovators, strategists, researchers, designers, managers, writers, artists, storytellers, poets, film-makers and change-makers.
