Description

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS ONLY OPEN TO PHD STUDENTS AT N8 UNIVERSITIES**

A unique series of informal, interdisciplinary workshops across the N8 universities (Durham,

Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and York) for PhD students from
both the natural and social sciences. Join us in Liverpool for "Walking the Chain".

Walking the chain – dairy food system in north west England

Everyday our food is produced through a series of movements and transactions across a wide geographical area. At each step across the food system there are transactions of money and product, production of raw materials and in some instances processing of food into food for the market. Understanding this complex food system requires information on the biological and technical relationships between inputs and outputs, the prices of goods and services and the rules and enforcement systems that people and organisations work under. The two day seminar being run by N8 Agrifood Programme and Liverpool’s Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Food Systems will provide an insight into the dairy food system and also the tools required to make sense of the biological, economic, social and cultural background of that system.
