Event Details

The University of Manchester and West Yorkshire Police, supported by Karma Nirvana, have been working together to explore police responses to honour-based abuse (HBA) and forced marriage. The project, ‘Early Identification of Honour-Based Abuse’, seeks to better understand the factors which influence, enable and inhibit police services’ ability to detect and address these complex crimes. By examining barriers to disclosure, examples of good practice and gaps in service provision, the research identifies how confidence in the police response – from reporting through to prosecution and conviction – can be increased.

Findings from the research, which carry significant implications for the practice of police forces and partner agencies, will be presented at this free event in Leeds.
