Must attend event: The National Association of Funeral Directors Autumn General Meeting 2017

The 2017 Autumn General Meeting (AGM) will be this year, held at the historic Coombe Abbey near Coventry in Warwickshire.  The agenda for this one-day AGM is designed to ensure members are up to date on Association business, bring important votes to the table and more than likely evoke some lively discussion.

Graham McAusland, Chief Executive of the Funeral Planning Authority (FPA) has accepted an invitation to present a session where he will outline specific constitutional changes planned for the FPA that are intended to give the organisation greater independence within the industry which may well spark a debate amongst members in light of recent requests to restrict NAFD members to only using FPA registered members.

The agenda will also see Chief Executive, Mandie Lavin bringing the membership up to speed on key developments, providing an overview of her first year in post and reporting on regulatory developments, she will set out the financial context and strategic direction for the Association.

In recent months, the NAFD has led the industry response on a diverse range of government consultations including inspection regulations in Scotland and reforms to Funeral Expenses Payments in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

This meeting comes at a critical time for the profession and follows on from a highly successful Conference, held in Brighton in May. Members are urged to attend and play their part in informing and setting future policy for the profession and Association.

Starting with registration and coffee at 9:00am, concluding late afternoon and with a convivial lunch in the middle planned to enable colleagues and friends to catch up with each other, the NAFD Autumn Meeting is an event not to be missed.

Papers will be circulated to all members ahead of the meeting.
