Hindi cinema boasts of a host of great lyricists. Th is talk will focus on the songs penned by some of the great lyricists of the golden era of Hindi cinema - D.N. Madhok, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Arzoo Lakhnavi, Shakeel Badayuni, Hasrat Jaipuri, Sahir Ludhianvi, Shailendra, Rajendra Krishan and Kaifee Azmi. Th e presentation by Tejendra Sharma will include songs from Kohinoor, Sangam, C.I.D., Haqeeqat, Padosan, Shri 420 to name a few.
The event will also launch the Hindi translation of ‘Naghmagar’ originally written in Urdu by Reza Ali Abidi, formerly of BBC Urdu Service Radio, in which he discusses the lyrics and contribution of various lyricists.
