The East Midlands conference will support you in growing your confidence in an educational landscape ever shaped by AI. Hear from experts in of AI pedagogy, practice and policy and ask key questions.

We will be hearing from:

Session 1: Darren Coxon, Pedagogy and practical use of AI in your school.

Darren is an education leader specialising in helping schools make sense of AI in their context.

An educator for 25 years, Darren has most recently managed the operation of school groups, notably Brighton College’s international schools. Darren has been at the forefront of educational technology for many years, he is now a major thought leader on AI in education and has delivered training, keynotes, and workshops for NAHT at the most recent inspiring leaders conference.

Session 2: Sharing AI best practice in school from Leicester City.

Leicester Primary Partnership working group have been developing an AI policy framework. The team will join us to lead a session, sharing their research and findings as well as discuss the practical steps needed when engaging with AI policy.

Session 3: Amazing people school discussion.

The creators of Amazing People Schools will come to share their work with you. Developed by educators, Amazing People Schools has been carefully designed to support young people to develop the vital human capabilities that will support them throughout primary school and as they look towards transitioning to secondary.

Its positive impact can be felt in areas such as personal development (particularly mental health and well-being), EDI, cross-curricular learning and overall school improvement.

Session 4: Clare Wilson, School safety and cyber security.

Clare Wilson, Head of Digital Traded Services for Derbyshire, is leading a session on school and cyber safety and highlighting the challenges that AI poses to data protection and cyber safety in schools and offering guidance and advice

Clare’s background as a Data Protection Officer, an author, senior examiner, teacher trainer and teacher of law. Her wealth of experience and insight into the evolving digital landscape in education, and we her background makes her uniquely placed to understand the impact of data protection legislation on the management and governance of a school.

Session 5: Rob Smith, How to keep safe from online parental abuse and tackle complaints.

Rob is Regional Head for NAHT East Midlands and a trade union employment lawyer with over 25 years' experience and is very experienced at supporting members whose careers are at risk, including dealing with parental abuse.

Parental abuse and complaints are one of the most significant causes of stress, anxiety and increased workload for school leaders. AI has only exacerbated the situation. Whilst we may not be able to prevent complaints there are practical steps which can be employed to help manage and control the impact these challenges have on you and your school.Rob will be leading a session on tackling the increasing problem of online parental abuse and complaints in an AI world.

BOOKING FAQs

When will I receive the event joining instructions?

The final information, including how to join the live event, will be emailed to you directly from the NAHT Professional Development team at least 5 days before and again the day before the event date. Unless you advise us otherwise, we will assume that you have received the joining instructions. A refund will not be given for non-attendance on the grounds of joining instructions not being received, it is the attendee’s responsibility to ensure they have the information before the event.

Do I need my membership number to book?

Yes. If you are booking a member place you will be required to enter the correct membership number. You can find your membership number by phoning membership on 0300 3030333 option 2.

Does the name on the booking need to match the delegate?

The names of each individual delegate must be entered during the booking process along with a unique email address for each delegate as this will be used for the confirmation, joining instructions and for sending materials after the course.

What if I am retired or don't have a workplace?

If you are retired or do not currently have a workplace, please enter your home address in the workplace field. On the drop down questions relating to phase please select other and enter either N/A or retired.

How do I contact the organiser if I have any questions?

Is my booking transferrable?

Bookings may only be transferred at the discretion of the Professional Development team. Requests will need to be made in writing to events@naht.org.uk before the event. Transfers and cancellations may be subject to a charge.

Cancellation fees:

Within 31 working days - 25% charge

Within 14 working days - 50% charge

Within 7 working days - 75% charge

Within 3 working days - 100% charge

Can I update my registration information?

Any updates to your booking must be made in writing to the Professional Development team at events@naht.org.uk

Parking

There will be complimentary parking for the duration of the event for our delegates. You will have to register your vehicle registration numbers on arrival. There will be a QR code placed in the meeting room to scan and enter details directly
