NAOMI KALU PRESENTS: Funk To Soul Folk

Introducing you to a wonderful world of music. Manchester based bands taking you on a journey through creative expression. For lovers of music influenced by Nile Rogers, Jamiroqui, Tracy Chapman, Joan Armatrading and The Rolling Stones

Presented by Naomi Kalu

The Divines

The Divines... bringing you a fresh, heartfelt twist to old-school soul. Featuring electric guitar and vocals. A soulful group blending smooth harmonies , rich vocals, and feel-good grooves inspired by neo-soul, R&B and 90s/00s classics. Members of the group include Sam Esse,  Carlissa, Mariam and others

The Yowies

The Yowies are a modern collective with a unique fusion of timeless funk, soul, and the infectious energy of the early 2000s. At the heart of the band’s sound are distinctive saxophone melodies, weaving through each track like a smooth, soulful thread entwining the vocal harmonies. Whether you’re vibing to their infectious rhythm section, getting lost in the soulful vocals, or feeling the sax’s warm embrace, The Yowies is a sonic journey that’s as familiar as it is forward-thinking, bridging the gap between past and present with every beat.

Naomi Kalu Band

What began as Naomi’s soulful solo sets has evolved into a dynamic full-band experience. Rooted in alternative folk, her sound blends earthy acoustics with jazzy drum grooves, emotive lyricism, atmospheric keys and textured guitars. The result is music that feels both timeless and modern—balancing the raw intimacy of folk storytelling with rich, genre-blurring arrangements.
