This is an afternoon's educational entertainment for writing students and the general public provided by the National Academy of Writing.
Using a technique adapted from the Conservatorie, visiting writers provide an open lesson on the understanding that students face many of the same challenges: a lesson for one is a lesson for all.
The afternoon comprises:
Masterclass with NAW Director, Richard Beard
Richard will give a public editorial close-reading of two texts of up to 3000 words submitted in advance by two students. Everyone attending the day will be able to read the texts in advance, and listen in to Richard's own critique. The writers will have a brief right to reply.
NAW Patron speaker: Ian Marchant
Ian will talk about the craft of writing, and how he produces his books, followed by question and answer session with the audience.
