Event description

Description

The third annual conference of the National Ambulance LGBT Network will take place on Friday 24 August at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The themes of this conference are expected to include:

  • Changing the culture of Ambulance Services
  • Supporting trans patients and staff
  • Providing good care to young LGBT people
  • Developing LGBT staff networks
  • Providing better support for mental health
  • Practical ways of tackling health inequalities

The conference is designed to support the continuing professional development needs of ambulance staff, but is also a fantastic opportunity to meet colleagues from across the country and share best practice. Last year’s conference was very well received by all who attended and the aim is to make this year’s conference even better.

The event is free^ and registration will be in two parts. Each NHS Ambulance Trust has been allocated ten places and these will be allocated by your LGBT Staff Network. Any remainng places will be released in May and allocated on a first come first served basis. Once the 150 places are allocated, a reserve list will be held in case of any cancellations. All participants will receive lunch, a certificate of attendance and conference pack.

The event takes place the day before Manchester Pride and North West Ambulance Service would like to invite all conference participants to take part in the parade.

^ A non-attendance fee of £50 is applicable to people who do not attend and fail the cancel their place. Demand for tickets is expected to be high and we encourage anyone who cannot attend to cancel their place as soon as possible to enable others a chance to take part.

Accommodation

Further information about the pricing and reservation process will be included here as soon as this is available.

We have arranged for accommodation at Manchester Metropolitan University. Birley Halls of Residence are located next door to the conference venue and offer modern rooms, each with en-suite facilities. These residences are a 15 minute walk from the Manchester Gay Village.

We have negotiated an excellent rate and two packages are available. You have the option of a two-night stay (Thursday 23 and Friday 24 August), or if you would like to stay in Manchester for the Pride celebrations you can book a four-night stay (Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 August). Breakfast is included throughout.

You must pay for your accommodation in full at the time of booking. Receipts will be available if you require one to claim expenses from your own Trust.
