Event description

Description

Who is the course for?

Are you looking to develop your professional skills and gain a qualification in mentoring apprentices?

Do you want to increase your understanding, confidence, and practice of supporting apprentices?

Are you keen to test out good practice in apprentice mentoring?

You may be an employee of a large employer or a training provider or an SME owner. If so, this award-winning specialist course is for you! It is a Level 3 qualification, accredited by Edge Hill University and, currently, going through regulation with Ofqual.

What is the course about?

The course is practical, relevant, and timely. It covers up to date good practice skills in working with individuals or groups of apprentices in the workplace to support their social, emotional and mental well-being and help them overcome barriers. It covers the requirements under the existing apprentice framework scheme and the new requirements under the standards scheme.

How is it delivered?

Delivery is designed to minimise time away from the job via blended learning. You undertake 8 hours e-learning prior to attending this one day workshop. Then, you submit written assessments within 6 months on your real-life practice and reflective learning (25-30 hours work), marked by another trainer to gain the formal qualification.

The e-learning and workshop cover:

  • You and your workplace
  • What is a mentor
  • Barriers to learning
  • Learning new skills
  • Coping with emotions
  • Preparation for working life
  • Employer requirements
  • Supporting an individual
  • Supporting a group
  • Supporting life skills
  • Involving other employees
  • Diversity, including working with different generations
  • Supporting social, emotional and mental health
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Monitoring outcomes of induction
  • Good practice for mentors
  • Reflecting on our journey and assignment

Can Levy funding be used?

The course can be funded as part of the negotiated costs of the apprenticeships under the ESFA levy funding rules. To comply, the person being trained on our course must be on an appropriate apprenticeship and part of their KSBs [Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours] includes mentoring/coaching other staff including apprentices. Please ask us about which apprenticeships this could cover.

What does it cost?

The total investment in the e-learning, workshop, and assignment is £500 per person (no VAT). Early bird saving 15% before 25th January 2018.

Every delegate also receives a signed copy of David Shindler's 5-star Amazon book, Learning to Leap, a Guide to Being More Employable.

This event is limited to a maximum of 12 people.
