Description

NAAN Professional Development Day

27th February 2019

Bristol, Old Council House

We look forward to welcoming you to our first Professional Development Day of 2019.

NAAN members may reserve up to two free places so please feel free to bring a colleague or volunteer. Although tickets are free to NAAN members, the cost of no shows and late cancellations will be passed on. See FAQs below.

The venue has limited space and tickets are on a first come, first served basis. Subject to space (once members have had a fair chance to book free tickets) additional tickets may be available for purchase. Non-members can also join us for free tickets to our regular events.

Draft Agenda

Please note that agenda may be subject to change. However, in order to allow you to confidently book your travel in advance, the start and finish times will not change.

For this PDD, we’re planning to take a break from external speakers to focus on the absolute core interests of the network. There will be opportunities for us to share open and active discussions on a range of topics, including:

Developments at the national level

  • What’s happening on police identification of vulnerability?

  • What does AA provision look like in 2019?

  • What is the impact of the Home Office Partnership Agreement?

  • How are appropriate adults perceived?

Training

  • What has NAAN learnt from delivering AA training around the country?

  • How can we make better use of videos in AA training?

  • What are the next steps in developing the national training pack?

National Standards and Self –Assessment

  • What’s changed in the National Standards 2018?

  • What’s the best way to use the self-assessment tool and how can it be improved?

Strategic Review

  • How is the AA landscape changing?

  • What did the survey tell us members want from NAAN?

  • What direction will NAAN be heading in?

Best practice from within the network

  • If you have some best practice you'd like to share, just let us know and we will schedule a slot for you.

FAQs

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Email admin@appropriateadult.org.uk or call 07739 904858.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Transfers within individual member services may be possible. Please contact us on the above address to discuss.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is helpful if you can bring your ticket with you as it helps with the registration process. However, if you do not bring the ticket you we'll just need your name.

What if I book but then can't make it?

Spaces are limited, and we want them all to count. It is very frustrating for members who have not been able to attend because all the places are booked, only to discover on the day that were spare spaces. Even though places at the event are free to members, they are not free to the charity, so please only book if you are committing to attending. No shows on the day and cancellations with less than two weeks notice may be subject to a charge of £45 to contribute to the costs incurred.

What are my transport options?

Rail: The nearest station is Bristol Temple Meads which is one mile away.

Book train tickets as early as possible to secure the best rates. Check prices at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/.

On foot: The venue is around a 20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads.

Bus: Number 8 and 72 buses run from Bristol Temple Meads to close to the venue every 10 minutes

By car: The NCP car park St James Barton is a short walk fro the venue. Pre-book the car park here.
