The National Art & Design Saturday Club at Cove Park offers young people aged 12-18 from Argyll & Bute the unique opportunity to explore, expand and enhance their creative skills at free Saturday Club sessions between Autumn 2016 and Summer 2017.
Led by a professional creative practitioner, the regular Saturday Club sessions will nurture young peoples' artistic and design talent, introduce them to new and familiar materials, techniques and processes and provide the space and time for them to enjoy what inspires and engages them. Club sessions will compliment their school work and build their creative confidence and self-esteem at a time when they are considering future study and career options.
Club sessions will take place in the inspirational creative setting of Scotland's international residency centre where professional artists from around the world devise new work and experiment with approaches to their practice. Residents will lead professional masterclasses with Club members.
Club members aged 13-16 also get the opportunity to visit some of London's best museums and galleries, and exhibit their work in their own Summer Show at Somerset House, London during two group weekend trips. Visits provide Club members with the opportunity to meet members of other National Art & Design Saturday Clubs from in the UK, part of a national network created by the Sorrell Foundation and run by the Saturday Club Trust.
National Art & Design Saturday Club sessions are from 09:30-12:30 on Saturdays between 8 October 2016 and the end of June 2017. Club session dates will be confirmed with people who have registered their interest in attending (see tickets below) at the beginning of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms.
