National Care Leavers Week 2016 Lecture

We'll be hearing from two care experience academics sharing their most recent research findings.
They'll also discuss their experience of university life after leaving care.
Lecturer in Social Care at Waterford Institute of Technology.
Danielle will share her research into resilience and focus specifically on outcomes for care leavers. She will use rich data in terms of qualitative quotes and combine these with her own care leaving experience.
Shilla Zwizwai Shomai
Entrepreneur, founder of Justice for the Silenced
Shilla will discuss her degree dissertation research which was based on changes brought about by the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 with a focus on corporate parenting, aftercare & continuing care. She will highlight the outcomes for care experienced young people in Scotland such as: educational outcomes, mental health, homelessness and employment.
