Description

Join us as we take a look at the Secret Life of Catheters. Despite being the most commonly used indwelling medical device worldwide, confidence surrounding the humble Foley catheter remains low. Using animated videos we share the 8 Golden Rules of Catheter Care and debunk myths to improve your confidence in dealing with common catheter related problems. We cover the anatomy, why we use different devices and why not giving antibiotics might be the best thing you can do for your patient. The Secret Life of Catheters is the educational component of the National Catheter Programme devised by Consultant Urologist Mr Bill Dunsmuir. Funding by Health Education England, the National Catheter Programme aims to be the authority on good catheter practice across all care settings in the UK. All are welcome! This course is for everyone involved in the care of people with catheters. We've taught carers, nurses, health care assistants, paramedics, physiotherapists, doctors, surgeons and more. The easily accessible content allows everyone, regardless of experience, to improve the care they can give. We're continually learning from your perspectives on the practical barriers to the care you want to give. Armed with this, we work with commissioners and providers to re-wire 'the system' where needed. Together, we can and will drive forward real and tangible change. The sessions are fun, interactive and feature direct input from the Urology Team at St Peter's Hospital.
