In memory of Robert Harrold and Margaret Dixon-Phillip this exciting Competition is open to UK and International entrants.

About this Event

The National Dance Faculty invite teachers from around the globe to enter their pupils for this exciting new competition, in celebration of the inspirational work of Robert Harrold and Margaret Dixon-Phillip in developing this wonderful dance genre.

Here's what you have to do

1. Read our Terms & Conditions (see below).

2. Purchases your ticket/s for your competitors/s (1 ticket per dance)

3. You will be required to upload video/s of your pupil/s performing their dance/s to our secure Dropbox platform by the deadline 25th January 2021 (details of where to upload your videos will be included on your order confirmation from Eventbrite).

5. Competitors’ teachers will be notified of Finalists by email on Monday 8th February 2021. A link will be shared to the Final event which will take place on social media platforms on Friday 12th February 2021.

6. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

7. Finalists will receive medals and certificates.

IMPORTANT - BEFORE PURCHASING TICKETS PLEASE READ THESE TERMS & CONDITIONS:

For clarification, the age of the competitor on the 6th December 2020

(original event date) should be used to determine which category to enter.

ENTRY / ELIGIBILITY

Open to all pupils of qualified dance teachers worldwide. Categories as follows:

Solos

• Pre-Junior: 6 years and under. 1½ -minute dance

• Class A: 7 and 8 years. 1½ -minute dance

• Class B: 9 and 10 years. 1½ -minute dance

• Class C: 11 and 12 years. 2-minute dance

• Class D: 13 and 14 years. 2-minute dance

• Class E: 15 and over (max 21 years). 2-minute dance

Duets

• Junior 10 and under. 1½-minute dance

• Intermediate 14 and under. 2-minute dance

• Senior 15 and over. 2-minute dance

Trios/Quartets

• Junior 10 and under. 1½-minute dance

• Intermediate 14 and under. 2-minute dance

• Senior 15 and over. 2-minute dance

PLEASE NOTE:

Solos

only one dance per competitor may be submitted

Duets /Trios /Quartets

more than one entry can be submitted but these must be with different dancers.

No late entries will be accepted, closing date is 25th January 2021

Adjudication of Heats will take place thereafter. The adjudication of some sections may be combined at committee’s discretion.

Competitors’ teachers will be notified of Finalists by email on 8th February 2021. A link will be shared to the Final event which will take place on social media platforms on Friday 12th February 2021.

Anyone competing in this online event does so at their own risk. The ISTD will not accept any responsibility for any injury.

By entering your competitors’ videos, you have agreed on your competitor’s behalf, that media consent is given in perpetuity. Therefore, if your competitor is a finalist their video will be shown in our Final event. This video footage may then be used by the ISTD for any promotional purposes at any time in the future on any marketing platform.

Teachers are responsible for obtaining written consent from competitors’ parents/carers/guardians before submitting their video/s.

Principals & Teachers – Please ensure all teachers involved in preparing pupils for the competition, are fully aware and understand the competition rules.

Upon submission of your application on your competitor’s behalf you are agreeing to the criteria set above and that you agree to adhere to health and safety regulations and the competitor rules.

All video entries will be deleted by Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing within 10 working days of the final announcements except those of the event’s Finalists which will be kept on file for 18 months

SAFETY / SECURITY

Safe dance practice / Floor craft are paramount.

Teachers should ensure their competitors are fully warmed up beforehand and perform the dances in a safe manner, which will not cause injury, ensuring the area chosen to dance is suitable and clear from any obstructions.

For safeguarding and security reasons it is preferable that teachers use a recording device with (preferably password protected) a memory card.

If teachers choose to use a mobile device, the footage should be uploaded immediately to the secure link through Dropbox provided by the ISTD, once the footage is transferred, this should be deleted from your device and not stored.

RULES

Competitors’ body and feet must be clearly visible on the recording throughout.

Suitable footwear required dependent on dance style and floor type/covering.

Make-up – as appropriate for the age range.

Dances to be performed once through ONLY.

Videos must be submitted by qualified dance teachers ONLY.

Videos recorded on mobile devices must be in Landscape mode.

The Adjudicators’ decision is final, individual feedback will not be provided.

The integrity of the teacher is relied upon to ensure that the rules are followed by all participants.

GUIDANCE FOR SUBMITTING VIDEOS

Upon submission of the entry fee, a Dropbox link will be located at the bottom of the Eventbrite PDF ticket, where teachers can upload their competitor’s videos securely.

It is of paramount importance that the video is of good visual quality and that the music can be heard.

Videos of poor quality may affect the result of entries.

Films recorded by a family member are acceptable, but these must be submitted by the teacher.

Videos must be submitted by qualified dance teachers ONLY.

Please title your Video File with the following information:

• School name

• Entry number

• Entry Category

• Dance Title and country

Important for anonymity - Please do NOT include the Dance School name within the video footage.
