Event description

Description

On Friday 20th October, as part of the national Hate Crime Awareness Week, the Encompass Network are hosting a LGBT+ Hate Crime Awareness network event.

In our 2014 LGBT Needs Assessment, 40% of respondents had experienced some form of homo/bi/ transphobia or hate crime in Cambridge City and South Cambs.

89% of people did not report these incidents.

  • What can we do to tackle the barriers to reporting hate crime?
  • What can we do to raise awareness of how to report hate crime and tell people about the services that can support them?
  • What can we do to help organisations be safer spaces for LGBT+ people?

At this networking event, we will be talking about these issues, sharing our experiences and connecting with people who can make change. Both Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the Victims Hub will be talking about their work.

We are inviting all organisations and individuals who work with or have connections with the LGBT+ community. We very much hope that you will be able to attend.

This networking event will take place on Friday 20th October, from 12noon to 2pm. It is being held at Cambridge Fire Station (Parkside Place Community Fire Station, Parkside CB1 1JF). Parking is available at the nearby Queen Anne Terrace multi-story carpark.
