National Hoarding Conference 2018 is the nationwide event for people affected by hoarding behaviour and for supporting professional services. Our theme this year is 'Partnership Working'.

The conference, organized by HoardingUK, has being designed as a proactive outcome driven programme of systemic change planning which will be monitored and evaluated throughout the following year, with regular updates in our newsletter, as a precursor to an International Conference in UK in 2019.

HoardingUK has worked for ten years to support choice and control within hoarding behaviour support models. The National Hoarding Conference will be an engaged day for developing ways forward.

The National Hoarding Conference will provide real time and hands on workshops and discussion panels which will be focused on exploring key themes, understanding issues and coming up with implementable solutions, the National Hoarding Conference will be an engaged day for developing ways forward, in the following areas (alphabetically):

· Environmental Health

· Fire Brigade

· General Practioners

· Housing Support Models

· Legal Frameworks

· Mulit-disciplinary Working

· Psychology

· User Involvement including

· Support Groups
· Benefits
· Advocacy
· Legal


· Person-centred positive change models presented at a national solution focused event

· Systemic change panel discussion

· Outcome monitoring throughout the year

· Join up services, participants and relevant support resources

· Increase support groups across the UK



Satwant SinghSatwant Singh – Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Counselling Psychologist working in the NHS in a specialist CBT service. He co-facilitates the London Hoarding Treatment Group.

Heather Matuozzo

Heather Matuzzo - Director of CloudsEnd CIC, a professional declutterer, trainer, activist for people who hoard. She established the Pan London Hoarding Task Force and recently launched a National Task Force initiative.

Megan Karnes

Megan Karnes - Founder & Director of HoardingUK, Counsellor BA (Hons), Dip. Clinical Supervision and Consultancy, Prim. Cert CBT, National Advocacy Qualification, Independent Mental Health Advocate, Independent Capacity Advocate, MBACP.

Fiona Bateman - Chair of Adult's Social Care - Advice, Information and Dispute Resolution and an experienced solicitor with expert knowledge of health and social care law and safeguarding responsibilities.

Ellis Turner

Ellis Turner - Environmental Health Manager at Islington Council who has investigated hoarding behaviour both as an Environmental Health practitioner and as a manager of a team. He co-authored an NHS Islington evidence hub fact sheet with Megan Karnes as part of the Islington’s joint strategic needs assessment

Julie Wilson

Julie Wilson - Chair of Tower Hamlets Peer Support Group, HUK Volunteer. Julie works for a housing association as a Tenancy Sustainment Officer. She works directly with people with hoarding behaviour providing practical help and support in a person centred way.

Edward Brown

Edward Brown - Benefits Support Worker at HoardingUK and a volunteer with Lancashire Mind as an ad hoc and on demand volunteer.

Dr Anna Dominique - General Practitioner, Bsc. MB.BCh. BAO, GP. Family PLanning who proactively focuses on ensuring a more patient/client friendly, usable and helpful approach, with empathy and better care. During a career break from General Practice, when helping a friend with a hoarding Issue, Anne got involved with the Support Group HoardingUK and since then she has worked on the most complex cases at HoardingUK. She continues working with the charity and is currently involved in establishing a Bedford support group, while preparing to incorporate such support as part as part of her work as a HoaridngUK Trainer for General Practitioners (GPs).

Agreed, minuted action plan which would be monitored throughout the year. Quarterly reports. Discussed again at Conference in 2019 which will host international partners

Exhibition will run parallel to the conference with exhibitors to welcome all delegates at any time during the event.

AGM @ 5.30pm!

Our Annual General Meeting will be held after the conference. Everyone is welcome to attend, but only members will be allowed to vote. There will be a cash bar available (people will need to pay for what they drink/eat). It will finish at 18:30 (latest). Networking will continue until 8.30pm.
