Description

The National Hydrogen Summit, hosted by the University of Leeds and Leeds City Council will bring together key stakeholders from academia, industry, government and civil society to identify key challenges and opportunities in a potential move to a hydrogen economy.

The event will focus on a wide range of issues including:

  • Public perceptions and social impact of hydrogen
  • Policy, economics, global opportunities
  • Hydrogen production and CCS
  • Hydrogen for transport, including vehicle display
  • Hydrogen for heat
  • Industrial use of hydrogen
  • Whole energy system approach to hydrogen

This is a two day event and you are welcome to attend one or both days. Each day will feature talks from key stakeholders as well as dedicating significant amounts of time for detailed discussions in smaller breakout sessions and plenty of opportunities for networking.


Day 1: Research, Innovation and Demonstration

27th June 2019, 9:30-17:00

Day 1 will focus on research, innovation and demonstration challenges and opportunities. We will learn from recent and ongoing projects, hear about specific challenges faced by industry and other stakeholders and identify the research and innovation required to implement the transition in a fair and equitable way.


Day 2: Policy and Implementation

28th June 2019, 9:30-16:30
Leeds Civic Hall, Calverley St, Leeds LS1 1UR

Day 2 will build on the outputs from the first day to look at how to ensure the policy and regulatory environment required to successfully implement projects. We will look at the role for different key stakeholders including local authorities, LEPs and combined authorities as well as how to best to maximise local and national economic and social benefits. There will also be a display of hydrogen vehicles.
