Description

The National Lido Conference brings together lidos, those who love them and influential and inspirational people from the lido world.

This year the one day conference, supported by Historic Pools of Great Britain, comes to Cheltenham. Its iconic lido, Sandford Parks, has been brought back from the brink and is now a thriving going concern that draws visitors to Cheltenham from miles around. Their Marketing Manager, Cathryn Fry, will give a presentation detailing some of the secrets of their success, and at the end of the day there will be an optional behind the scenes tour and a swim on offer to delegates.

The overall themes for the day are reviving, surviving and thriving. Currently confirmed speakers include Paul Goodwin from Helmlsey open air pool, who will talk about their recent refurbishment and the ways that the last lido conference informned their planning activities, Pam Barrett of Buckfastleigh open air pool who will talk about her experience of applying for, and using, grants and how to navigate the political landscape that affects all community facilities, Phil Bradby of Save Grange Lido tallking about the challenges and successes of their campaign to restore this long-closed iconic lido, Chris Romer-Lee of Studio Octopi and Thames Baths who will talk about his lido architectural and campaigning work and there will also be presentations on income diversification, managing volunteers and financial sustainability. More speakers are also yet to be announced.

Your ticket price includes a delegate pack, lunch and refreshments throughout the day. There will also be other optional activities across the evening and weekend to be announced.

If you run a business or organisation connected to the lido or swimming world we also have some display/trading space available, please contact us on lidoguide@gmail.com for details.

FAQs

How accessible is The Isbourne?

Isbourne House is an historic regency building. Narrow corridors and stairs are therefore a feature of the building, and the conference suit is accessed via both. There is no lift, or stair lift, in place and those with reduced mobility need to be aware of that. There is, however, a toilet next to the conference suit so repeated trips up and down the stairs would not be needed during the course of the day.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Cheltenham is accessible via the mainline rail network, and the station is around a ten minute walk from the conference venue. Those coming by car will find a number of pay and display parking options within easy walking distance of the venue.

What accomodation options are there for the event?

The town is one of the UK's most beautiful, and lends itself to a full weekend stay. There are accomodation options readily available to suit all budgets within walking distance of both the conference venue and the pool.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email lidoguide@gmail.com

What's the refund policy?

We do not refund tickets unless we cancel the event, so please ensure you can attend before booking. This is necessary to ensure costs associated with putting on the conference are covered, and to help us keep ticket prices affordable. In the unlikely event that we cancel the conference and refund your fees the eventbrite booking fees cannot currently be refunded. This is eventbrite policy over which we have no control.
