The National Museum of Flight is reopening on Monday 26 April, we can’t wait to welcome you back!

Book online in advance

Please book a timed entry ticket online in advance of your visit. This includes National Museums Scotland Members.

Please be mindful of the restrictions in place for your local area and adhere to Scottish Government guidelines. To comply with these guidelines and to help us with NHS Scotland's Test and Protect, we are currently unable to accommodate groups that are from more than one household, so please book up to six tickets for yourself and other members of your household only. Please make sure you have booked a ticket for every member of your group, including children under five years of age.

The museum is open 10.00–17.00 daily.

Visiting safely

A range of safety measures have been put in place in line with Scottish Government guidelines. This includes pre-booked timed entry, face coverings, enhanced cleaning, sneeze screens, hand sanitising stations and one-way routes in certain areas of the museum where physical distancing is not possible.

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable visit. During your visit, we ask you to:

  • Please keep your distance from others (2m).
  • Use the hand sanitiser provided.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Follow the directional signage.
  • Please note card payments only.
  • Face coverings must be worn by visitors over 5 in our indoor spaces and shops.

Please do not visit the museum if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus .

When you book we will also collect your name, contact number and the date and time of your visit to support NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect service and we may share this information with the service up to 21 days following your visit. The Physical Distance Based Capacity (PDBC) for this site based on Scottish Government guidelines is 1189.

Face coverings

In line with Scottish Government guidelines, all visitors over the age of 5 must wear a face covering in our indoor spaces.

What’s open?

Please note: not all areas of the museum are currently open. Please visit our website for information on which areas will be open during your visit.

We have also developed a new museum map to show which parts of the site are open and what can be enjoyed during your visit, along with a new family trail.

Food and drink

The Aviator Café is open, with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Please note we are accepting card payments only.

National Museums Scotland Members receive a 20% discount in the café.

You are welcome to bring your own picnic to eat in our outdoor picnic area. Please dispose of your rubbish responsibly in the bins provided. Barbecues and gas stoves are not permitted.


The museum shop is open, accepting card payments only. In line with Scottish Government guidelines, face coverings must be worn in our shops.

National Museums Scotland Members receive a 10% discount on all shop purchases.
