How do people really feel about numbers in the UK? Join us on 15 May, National Numeracy Day, to explore the key findings from a new report by the Policy Institute at King’s College London, National Numeracy and Ipsos MORI.

With half of the working age population struggling with numbers, this event will see the launch of new research into levels of numeracy in Britain, and feature contributions from Andy Haldane, Chief Economist at the Bank of England.

How many of us have been told we are not numbers people? In what ways do our beliefs in our abilities limit our potential? And how greatly as a nation do we value good literacy over good numeracy? To establish a cultural shift in attitudes towards maths and numeracy, we first need to understand the beliefs and myths which prevail and could be holding us back.

We look forward to working together – as policy makers, business leaders and educationalists – to develop a deeper understanding of these issues, and move towards a collective approach to help everyone build confidence with numbers.

This is a joint event hosted by National Numeracy, the Policy Institute at King's College London, Ipsos MORI and KPMG, founding supporter of National Numeracy Day.
