Event description

Description

I would like to invite you to the first national PA4 workshop event focusing on projects delivering energy efficiency improvements within SMEs; to be held on Tuesday 21st November 2017, at Durham Castle, County Durham.

With the support of DCLG and LOCARBO we are inviting all live projects funded through PA4 who target SMEs with energy advice and energy efficiency improvements to Durham Castle for an interactive workshop.

The morning will start with a quick welcome and introduction from Ian Thompson, Durham County Councils Corporate Director for Regeneration and Local Services, followed by Mark Joslyn, ERDF Sustainability Manager, DCLG setting the scene.

The event has been designed to allow projects across the country with similar outputs, similar operating and delivery structures to freely and openly discuss the practicalities of running a PA4 funded ERDF project. During the day participants can take part in specific discussion topics such as metering and monitoring, promotions and marketing, audits and data collection and more. The workshop topics will focus on the practical elements of delivery, the how, where, when, why, and I wish we hadn’t of project delivery. All attendees are encouraged to suggest topics for discussion on the day.

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for everyone to learn from best practice, share difficulties, learn from those who may have solved similar challenges, and to spark ideas that may improve projects as we continue to deliver.

Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided and the workshop will be complete by 3pm.

The event is being organised in partnership with DCLG, Durham County Council, Durham University’s Energy Institute and the LOCARBO Project who will feature this workshop as their Living Lab.

Arriving on Monday 20th November?

Expenditure associated with this workshop such as travel and overnight stay can be incorporated into your Overheads budget line, therefore if you are arriving the day before please feel free to email my colleague (calum.baker@durham.gov.uk) or myself (maggie.bosanquet@durham.gov.uk) directly because we are able to secure discounts at city centre hotels depending on numbers.

Again, depending on numbers the organising team have provisions to host a late afternoon/evening meet and greet- providing an opportunity for delegates to meet each other and the organising team informally, in the beautiful surroundings of Durham’s ancient Castle, ahead of the workshop session the following day. If you are arriving on Monday and would like to attend an informal meet and greet please confirm by booking a ticket.

Hope to see you all there, and if you have any questions or would like to discuss the workshop in more details please feel free to get in touch.

Regards

Maggie Bosanquet (Locarbo Lead and Manager of Low Carbon Economy Team)

Calum Baker (Business Energy Efficiency Project Manager)
