Event description

Description

This one day national event will bring together clinical leaders, commissioners and third sector representatives to address the challenges of making a step change in rehabilitation provision in England.

Whilst health systems internationally over the last 30 years have seen progressive improvements in rehabilitation care provision, the UK has fallen increasingly further behind with poor access to specialist services and community based rehab and few opportunities for innovation.

The day will explore current themes in Rehabilitation including:

  • If we know “Rehab Works” then why is it so difficult to get the right service to the patients that need it?
  • What are the opportunity costs of failing to optimise outcomes?
  • Can we use “Get It Right First Time” processes to get patients on the right trajectory?
  • What has happened to vocational rehabilitation in the UK and can we get more people back to work?

Through platform presentations from national leaders, workshops and discussion Focus Groups this summit will seek to inform and gather the views of key players in the field to produce outcomes that will directly inform national decision making bodies involved in the commissioning and strategic development of rehab services.

This day particularly seeks to engage service users and their carers and gather their views and opinions to inform the discussion and debate.

Confirmed speakers include Prof Derick Wade, Oxford, Prof Mike Barnes, UKABIF, Mr Joe Korner, Neurological Alliance, Prof Lynne Turner Stokes, London, Prof Diane Playford Warwick.
