Event description

Description

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Trans Representation in the Media’. The day will include some workshops, speakers and a chance for you to share ideas you have about how to increase diverse representation of trans young people in the media.

This event is for young trans people - including those who identify as non-binary or non-gender – who will come together to meet each other and to take part in workshops and discussions.

Booking for the event is essential so we can properly plan the number of spaces and workshops we need on the day, and the amount of food we provide. So please sign up here. The conference is free but you will have to pay a £10 deposit per person which you will get back, provided you turn up. You can pay this by sending us a cheque to: The Proud Trust, 49-51 Sidney St, M1 7HB. Your place is not secured unless we have received your cheque to pay the £10 deposit, which we won't cash unless you do not attend the event.

At last year's conference, plus a public vote by trans young people, the vote for the favourite national initiative for us all to work on was: Campaign to educate members of the public on the diversity of transgender lives.

So we invite you to create a campaign over the Summer/ Autumn in your area with your local youth group, to raise the profile of diverse trans people's lives in the media. You might do a piece with your local newspaper about your group or run a YouTube or Instagram campaign, or something completely different! Please keep a record of what we do, as we will invite you to share your campaign on 11th November.

Please use the hashtag #NTYNtranslives when working on your campaigns.

Deadline to book is 30th September 2017.
