National Trust Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo & the Heart of Wales Line
Fri 21 October 2016, 08:00 – 18:30 BST
A magical land of power and influence for more than 2,000 years, Dinefwr has an iconic place in the history of Wales. Two forts are evidence of a dominant Roman presence. The powerful Lord Rhys held court at Dinefwr and influenced decisions in Wales.
The visionaries, George and Cecil Rice designed the superb 18th-century landscape that you see today and the 'hands-on' Newton House gives us an atmospheric circa 1912 experience. Exhibitions on the first floor tell Dinefwr's story and inspire visitors to explore the castle and park.
After our National Trust visit, we will be boarding the Heart of Wales Line at Llandeilo Station and heading north we will travel through spectacular scenery, bustling market towns, idyllic stations and a viaduct all at a leisurely pace until we reach our final stop at Llandrindod Wells.
