Description

The National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification will provide the learner with an introduction to all elements of beach lifeguard theory, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, pool skills and open water skills. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times and lifting. The NVBLQ is comprised of a variety of units and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.

The course will be run on the following dates and each of the days must be attended to achieve the award:

Saturday 30th, Sunday 31st, Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th, Monday 8th with the assessment on the Saturday 13th.

Pre-requisites:

    • Be 16 on the assessment day.
    • Be able to swim a measured distance of 200 metres in a pool of recommended length 25 metres, minimum 20 metres, within 5 minutes.
    • On enrolment the candidate must be able to demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Trainer, that by the end of the course they will be capable of achieving a swim time of 400m in under 8 minutes.

  • Foundation Tube Rescuer
  • Foundation Ocean Board Rescuer

The course will run daily starting at 0900 - 1700. The course will involve a mixture of training in sea, beach and classroom.

Each candidate will recieve further joining instructions and information once allocated a space.

Successful completion of the NVBLQ does not guarantee paid work with the RNLI Beach Lifeguard Service but is one of the required qualifications to then be able to apply for a role with the organisation.

Please be aware that refunds can only be given prior to 30 days before the course start date. After this time Broadstairs Surf Lifesaving Club will automatically create your memberships to SLSGB, order your training materials and pay your assessment fees. If you cannot attend the course due to unforeseen circumstances after this point then Broadstairs Surf Lifesaving Club would be able to defer your place to the next available course. You will remain a club member until 31.12.19 and would be welcome to join club training sessions.
