Description

NCVO National Volunteering Forum

Special double bill: Volunteering Futures / Volunteering & Diversity

Morning: Volunteering futures

The world around us is changing rapidly. People have more choices than ever when it comes to getting involved in a cause – be that shaping the world around them for the better, protecting the things they think are valuable or changing the things that hold us back. But what does that mean for volunteering?

The National Volunteering Forum covers the big issues for volunteering. As we begin 2020, we want to start preparing for what the new decade may have in store for volunteering and volunteer management. Come and hear about what networks and support already exist. Discuss what the future might hold for your organisation. Tell us what you want from NCVO for the next ten years.

Join us to discuss:

  • What the future holds for volunteering?

  • What should NCVO and other organisations be doing to support volunteering?

  • How can we best make sure volunteer leaders and managers are supported?

Afternoon: Volunteering & Diversity

Diversity, inclusion, equity and equal opportunities are central to successful volunteering. Better inclusion can help us all achieve our aims and improve experiences of volunteering for all. This session will be a mixture of a short presentation by NCVO and a discussion about what diversity means to your organisation.

This workshop is part of a series with volunteer-involving organisations exploring issues affecting diversity in volunteering, as well as inputting into the third Time Well Spent focused research report - more on this can be found in our blog. If you like the Time Well Spent research reports, come and help shape practice and policy in this area for yourselves and others involving volunteers.

What will organisations get from this workshop?

  • Hear about the latest research and evidence on diversity and volunteering

  • Discuss your experiences with other volunteer-involving organisations

  • Contribute to an important piece of research

Who should attend?

The National Volunteering Forum (NVF) brings together volunteer-involving organisations and volunteer infrastructure bodies from around England to discuss issues of shared concern, feed into NCVO’s policy positions and to network. We run three events every year including at least one outside of London.

Who runs it?

The Volunteering Development Team within NCVO.

Pricing

• NCVO members: Free

• Non-members: Normally £40 but this event will be free to all

We would like to give an opportunity for the maximum number of organisations to benefit from this NVF and therefore there is a limit of 2 free tickets per organisation.

These events are very popular so please let us know if you are unable to attend. Members and non-members will be charged the normal £40 non-member fee unless you let us know seven working days before the event.

If you can’t make this NVF there are other ways of getting involved:

  • We are also holding the morning strategy session in London on 9 March (9.30am -12noon)

  • We are also running the workshop on volunteering and diversity in London on 27 February (10am-12pm) (please email Amy at amy.mcgarvey@ncvo.org.uk if you’re interested.)

  • You can also tell us about your organisation and your experiences of volunteering and diversity via this digital form
