Children's rights in justice: UNCRC and beyond

About this Event

The Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice (CYCJ), Scottish Government and the National Youth Justice Advisory Group (NYJAG) are pleased to announce that the National Youth Justice Conference 2021 is now open for registration.

Join us at this annual free event to discuss children’s rights in the justice system, the incorporation of the UNCRC and what this means for children and young people in Scotland, and how we can work together to ensure that no child is left behind in our pursuit of a fair and equal system.

Confirmed speakers include Juliet Harris (Together, Scotland), Dr Anthony Charles (Swansea University), Iain Keegan-Smith (Scottish Lawyer of the Year 2020); Professor Jennifer Davidson (Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures); and Gillian Mawdsley (Criminal Justice Solicitor). Bruce Adamson, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, will chair.

As always, the voices of children and young people and lived experience of the justice and care systems will be represented throughout, and participants will be able to enhance their learning and development with a variety of workshops.

This conference will take place online, due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Details of how to join and separate workshop sessions will be circulated in advance to registered participants.

Registration will close on Friday, April 30. Successful applicants will be notified in early May.
