From Slow Worms to Adders, Discover the ecology of our native reptile species whilst learning to carry out practical onsite transect surveys for all the UK native reptiles.

During this introductory course, you will spend the day exploring some or our beautiful Sussex heathland sites, looking out for reptiles and other wildlife that inhabit these rare spaces.

This course is suitable for beginners or those wishing to build on their surveying skills.

Paul Stevens is an experienced conservationist with a broad knowledge of Sussex wildlife.

Location: Heyshott Common, New Road, Near Midhurst

What to bring: Stout footwear necessary and it is advisable to wear long trousers. Camera and binoculars optional. Bring water, snacks and lunch to have after the event on the reserve. This is an exposed site so sun hat, sunglasses and cream is recommended.

Facilities: There are no public toilets at this site.

Parking: Free parking can be found on New Road.

Accessibility: Rough terrain whilst on the heathland so sure footing is a must. 2-3km Slow walking with lots of stops along the way.

If our standard priced tickets are simply out of reach at the moment, you can opt for our open concession ticket. This is available to all with no questions asked.

Participants must be at least 14 years old to attend an adult course or event. Young people, aged 14-17, must be accompanied by a paying adult aged 18 or over.
