Welcome to the Natural Dyes Workshop!
Come join us on the Moor outside Live Works to explore natural dyes and leaf printing, paint with the dyes onto fabric, sew or stitch in natural materials, and use the fabric to weave with, or hang up at home.
We will use natural dyes to create patterns on fabric, experiment with household mordants to change the color, and print leaves onto fabric using the Japanese-inspired hapzome technique. We can then play with stitching techniques and natural materials to layer onto the fabric.
This workshop is part of The Common Threads Festival, an international weaving project bringing cultures, ideas and people together and taking place from the 24th -27th September on the Moor in Sheffield.
Common Threads has grown from a collaboration between The Bare Project, Higsad Alool Weavers and textile groups across Sheffield.
