The Natural History Museum in London has recently unveiled its transformed five-acre gardens, creating a new destination for visitors to explore and connect with urban nature.

Designed by Landscape Architect J&L Gibbons, the gardens are designed as a living laboratory. The stone material used also tells a story and spans geological timescales of the planet.The gardens are divided into two main areas:

The Evolution Garden: This garden takes visitors on a journey through Earth's history, spanning billions of years and showcasing the evolution of life through a timeline of plants, rocks, fossils, and sculptures. The stone material used spans the geological timescales of the planet.
The Nature Discovery Garden: This area focuses on present-day urban habitats, demonstrating how nature can thrive in city environments. It features diverse ecosystems such as grasslands, wetlands, and woodlands, and is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, amphibians, and insects. The Nature Discovery Garden is also a research hub, equipped with sensors and a new Data Ecosystem powered by AWS to study urban biodiversity.

At the beginning of the tour, CED will give each attendee a small brochure which summarises the different stones they will see in the garden.

During the tour, the attendees will learn the following:

- Background of the project - sourcing the stones, selecting them, designing, fabricating and installing.

- Learn more about which UK natural stones are available for specification

- Where the stones come from and how they formed

The tour will last 60-90 minutes.
