The final event for TweedLove 2012... There’s no school like the old school, and this year’s Natural Tweed route – hand-picked by local guides Ridelines - will feel like a good old ‘back in the day’ cross country ride. It will take you to some of the lesser known natural parts of the Tweed Valley and promises some stiff climbs, sweet descents, classic trails and fantastic scenery with the route following a range of forest tracks, drove roads, well known hill paths and not so well known ancient passes. It’s not overly technical and most reasonably fit riders should manage the challenges, but it is a route that takes you out into remote locations so don’t underestimate the ride.
The route is around 45km and you should allow three–five hours to complete (the super fit will be quicker). This event is free to enter, and you’ll be given a printed map and a full route description on the day. It’s not a race OK?!
Although there will be support from qualified guides, this is fundamentally a self-guided, self-sufficient day out so you should come prepared. Several short-cuts home are possible.
Please note these rides are self-guided and you’re responsible for looking after yourself. Routes may go into high and remote country so carry sufficient clothing and food. Riders are responsible for signing back in when they finish. These are fairly big days out with significant amounts of climbing, so may not be suitable for novice mountain-bikers. Please carry a mobile phone.
Over 16s only.
