Event description

Description

Nick Upton is coming to Combe Grove to lead a series of workshops aimed at people who already enjoy photography using a DSLR camera and want to learn more or improve their technique, acquire some new tricks, or would like to photograph forms of nature they haven’t attempted before. You do not need to be an expert photographer but if you use more than the auto settings and have an understanding of aperture control, shutter speed, ISO and how these affect an image, then these workshops are just right for you.

Workshop 3: Nature Close Up

Nick will lead a workshop focused on capturing creative, bold images of plants, invertebrates and other small subjects in the garden and out in nature. Small really can look beautiful once you learn to spot the many wonderful, but easily overlooked, photo opportunities all around us and how to make the most of them.

Learn how close up photography can be approached in a variety of ways using different kinds of lenses and light source, from wide-angle macro to the more traditional macro photography, and how a telephoto lens offers another stylish way to capture subjects in close-up.

The workshop will include:

  • A presentation and demonstration of equipment and techniques
  • Buffet lunch
  • Field photography session in the grounds of Combe Grove
  • Tea, coffee and an afternoon snack

All you need is a Digital SLR camera and some creative energy!

The workshops can be taken individually or as a course of three, sequentially building on skills taught in previous workshops.
