Event Description:
A large body of scientific research tells us that contact with, and connection to nature leads to significant health and wellbeing benefits.
Studies have shown that spending as little as 20-minutes a day with nature can significantly improve our mood and life satisfaction, restore our attentional capacity and reduce stress levels and anxiety. While the NHS guidelines recommend taking 20 mins a day to connect with nature, in the UK we spend 80-90% of our lives indoors.
However, it’s not just about the duration, but how we engage with nature. Using our senses to appreciate and notice our surroundings allows us to feel connected and present.
Join us to learn more about ‘nature connection’ and experience first-hand the benefits of engaged experiences in nature.
In this fun and accessible lunch-break workshop, we will take time to explore a section of the campus grounds at our own pace and tune into nature through the senses.
This is the perfect opportunity to decompress in the middle of a busy day and leave feeling recharged.
Everyone is welcome to participate, however comfortable you are with the outdoors – we will not be getting dirty, and you won’t have to do things you are not comfortable with.
