Unleash your creativity in this hands-on Experimental Printmaking Workshop, where nature itself becomes your inspiration and your art medium! Join Outdoor Learning Officer Elly Joplin—a fine arts graduate and experienced art teacher—for a unique artistic journey set in the stunning woodland surroundings of Gorcott Hill.
What to expect:
The workshop begins with a gentle guided walk through the beautiful woodlands of Gorcott Hill. As we explore, we’ll take in the natural beauty around us, observing patterns, textures, and organic shapes. You’ll have the opportunity to collect leaves, seed heads, feathers, and other found objects—the very materials that will shape your prints.
Hands-on Printmaking Techniques
Back at our fantastic education facility, Elly will guide you through a variety of experimental printmaking techniques, perfect for both beginners and those with some artistic experience. You’ll learn:
- Direct printing from natural materials – Capturing intricate textures straight from leaves, bark, and flowers.
- Monoprinting – A free-flowing, painterly technique that allows for expressive and spontaneous designs.
- Cyanotype printing (weather dependent) – A magical photographic process that creates striking blue-and-white botanical prints using sunlight.
With a small group size (limited to eight participants), you'll receive plenty of personal guidance and the chance to experiment with different approaches to printmaking. We’ll provide all materials, along with tea, coffee, and biscuits, so you can enjoy a relaxing and immersive creative experience.
Please note that a minimum number of attendees will need to be reached for the workshop to proceed.
