About this event

Hobbies • Drawing & Painting

Journalling what we see, not what we think we see, enables us to gain a deeper connection to our surroundings, promoting curiosity and well-being.

In the two hours, we will be walking in Wardens' Wood with sit stops to draw what we see, smell, hear… Our aim is not to create a masterpiece but to enhance our connection to nature through the medium of drawing.

Suitable for ages 10 years to adult, a lovely activity for you to do alongside your child and suitable for all abilities.

Basic drawing materials are provided - a sketching 'zine and a drawing pen which you can take home after to hopefully continue your journalling journey.

You will be guided by local illustrator/printmaker Amanda Steer.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have experience of drawing or sketching?

Not at all, all levels of experience are welcome

What happens in wet weather?

If it is a rainy day, we will walk and pick up items which catch our eye, or photograph larger items. We will then seek shelter in our events shelter to sketch in the dry.

What do I need to bring?

Please dress for the weather on the day, bringing an extra layer and hat etc. as it can get chilly when stationary for a while. Wear boots or wellies. All art materials provided but you are welcome to bring your own too. Sit mats provided but if you prefer a stool or chair please bring your own.

My child is interested, can they come?

Children aged 10 and above are welcome to come along as long as they are accompanied by an adult also on the workshop. Children over 16 may attend without a parent or guardian, as long as they have parental consent.
