About this event

In this session we will be learning about ponds. We will be studying the importance of a pond as a habitat for fish, amphibians and invertebrates and as a water source for birds and mammals. We will also be designing and building our own pond on site.

Join this group of young volunteers and get some hands-on experience of managing a nature reserve and recording the wildlife. You'll gain new skills and get involved in conservation tasks including surveying, planting and painting tasks during these sessions.

These volunteering hours can count towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award or can be recorded as work experience on your CV, plus you’re helping to do your bit for the environment!

Please dress for the weather and bring suitable waterproof clothing. Wear sturdy boots/footwear.

Activities across different sessions may include:

  • Hand tool use
  • Painting
  • Planting
  • Grass cutting and raking
  • Litter picking
