Nature walk with John Wells - an introduction to Grove Farm nature reserve
Overview
On this special winter walk at Grove Farm, you’ll swap autumn colours for frosty branches, mossy logs and quiet woodland paths. Discover how lichens and mosses survive the cold months, how they support insects and birds even in midwinter, and what they can tell us about the health of our air and soil.
Local naturalist John Wells will guide you to notice the small details that are easy to miss on a chilly day, helping you gain a deeper appreciation of Grove Farm’s ancient woodland, its history and ongoing conservation work.
Bring family, friends and warm layers, plus wellies, a camera and a magnifying glass if you have one, so you can explore these tiny winter worlds up close. We’ll meet at the Whitton Avenue West entrance to Grove Farm, between 492A and 490.
