We are holding our annual conference online this year, in April 2023. It is open to all members of staff, volunteers and trustees from NAVCA member organisations, and is designed to allow more of our members to engage with NAVCA's work, no matter where you are based. We hope the conference also allows you to connect with your team and other NAVCA members by discussing important topics and ideas.

The conference will incorporate two keynote speakers and two online workshop sessions (with multiple choices during each session). The workshops are designed for members of staff and trustees to be able to attend a workshop that suits your job role or interests.

One member ticket purchased allows as many members of staff, volunteers and trustees from your organisation to attend the sessions as you would like. Please note, 'staff' refers to people who are directly employed by your organisation. Ahead of the conference, we will ask for confirmed numbers in order to manage workshop capacity. The tickets are £35 plus booking fee.

Member tickets are for NAVCA members only. Non-members should purchase stakeholder tickets. If you are unsure of your membership status, please contact comms@navca.org.uk.

Workshop details will be announced closer to the time, but the schedule for the day will be as follows:

11am – 11:30am - Introduction from NAVCA and our first keynote speaker.

Our first keynote speaker will be Adam Lent, CEO of New Local, an independent think tank and network of councils, with a mission to transform public services and unlock community power. Adam will explore the idea of community power and explain how he sees it being applied across the country. He will also share thoughts on how the VCS can work with councils, ICSs and the wider public sector to encourage a more community powered approach across a local system.

11:30am – 12:30pm - Attendees will have a choice of five workshop sessions, targeted at different job roles within local infrastructure.

Inclusive Trusteeship, hosted by Penny Wilson from Getting on Board

Tackling the volunteering crisis, hosted by Drew Richardson from York CVS.

Resilience, hosted by Mark Davis from Middlesbrough Voluntary Development Agency (MVDA).

Introduction to Film for Charities, hosted by Laura Balerdi from HelpFilm.

Never initiate anything and never try to motivate anyone!’ Exploring community development within local infrastucture, hosted by Garry Jones from Support Staffordshire.

12:45pm – 2pm - Lunch break.

2pm – 3pm - Attendees will have a choice of four workshop sessions.

Tackling the climate crisis as local infrastructure organisations, hosted by Carol Botten from VONNE.

Working locally to help more people keep warm, clean and well, hosted by In Kind Direct.

Collaborating with other local infrastructure organisations, hosted by Mike Wild from Macc.

Unleashing the Power of Data to Drive Impactful Decision-Making in LIOs, hosted by Juliana and Daniel from the VCSE Data Observatory.

3pm – 3:30pm - Our final keynote speakers will be Angela Spence, CEO, and Joe Batty, Head of Community Development from Kensington and Chelsea Social Council (KCSC), on their experiences of community development in an area dealing with trauma. This is a new feature of our conferences, spotlighting NAVCA members’ stories and experiences.

Refund policy: We hope everyone who registers for the conference will be able to attend, but we know that sometimes things change.

Cancellations requested up to 14 days in advance (no later than 11am on 13 April 2022), are eligible for a full refund, minus a £10 administration charge. Cancellations requested after this date are not eligible for a refund. Please keep in mind that one ticket purchased allows multiple people from the same organisation to attend the conference.
