A Complicated Grief IPT Strategies Workshop focuses on helping practitioners support clients struggling with prolonged grief that interferes with their daily life prolongs their depression.

Who is the workshop for?

· IPT Trainees: Offering foundational insights into the focal area strategies to support their training journey.

· Newly Qualified IPT Therapists: Helping to deepen their understanding of the focal areas as they begin their professional practice.

· Experienced IPT Therapists: Serving as a refresher to revisit and reflect on focal area strategies, enhancing their existing knowledge and skills.

· The Difficulties with complicated grief: Exploring nature of the grief that the client is experiencing.

· How Do We agree that the grief is ‘COMPLICATED?’: Exploring the nature of grief and understanding when the grief is ‘normal’ and when it is ‘complicated.’

· What We Hear from Our Clients/Patients: Sharing common themes and feedback that clients express during therapy, which can help in identifying complicated grief.

· Navigating the Mandatory Strategies: Understanding how mandatory strategies are employed in IPT and their role in working through the complicated grief.

· Navigating the Focal Area Strategies: Learning how to apply focal area strategies within IPT. It typically includes helping client’s to explore the relationship with the deceased, address feelings of guilt or ambivalence, and foster acceptance while re-engaging in meaningful activities and relationships.

· Case Studies: Reviewing real-life case studies to illustrate the practical application of strategies for working with complicated grief and improving therapeutic outcomes.
