Navigating Conferences: A Beginner's Guide
Sat 14 January 2017, 10:00 – 14:30 GMT
Dear Doctoral students in ECS,
We would like to invite you to ‘Navigating Conferences: A Beginner's Guide’. Many students wonder about what is involved in going to conferences. What is the difference between a professional conference and an academic conference? Should you only go to one type? This event about attending conferences is designed to help address your questions, encourage you to submit to conferences, and to provide examples of work that has been presented at conferences by your fellow students.
The event will be in G552, Waterloo Bridge Wing, Franklin Wilkin's Building with posters in G12, on Saturday 14th January – 10:00am-3:00pm.
During the day there will be a seminar led by Jill and Meg on types of conference presentation, a discussion about what else to do at conferences besides the presentations, and 4 student presentations by:
- Marie Hobson, EdD student
- Cedric Deschrijver, PhD Linguistics student
- Ellie Gurney, PhD Education policy student
- Katrin Boege, EdD student
Lunch will be provided. But please bring snacks and/or desserts of your choosing to share with the group.
In order to ensure we cater appropriately, please sign up here on Eventbrite.
We hope to see you there.
Sandra Takei - First year student
Jill Hohenstein - Programme Director
Meg Maguire - Professor
