About this event
- Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that focuses on improving interpersonal relationships and social functioning to alleviate emotional distress. IPT is typically short-term and is used to treat various mood disorders, including depression and anxiety. The therapy emphasises understanding the link between a person’s symptoms and their current social and interpersonal experiences, helping individuals to better navigate their emotional world within the context of their relationships.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is for IPT Accredited Practitioners only
Sensitivities in IPT are areas where patients may have heightened emotional reactions due to interpersonal conflict, past trauma, or vulnerabilities in their relationships. Identifying these sensitivities is crucial for effective treatment, as they often serve as focal points for therapy.
This workshop will focus on the following key areas:
The Difficulties with Sensitivities: Exploring why certain sensitivities are difficult to identify and work with in therapy, and the challenges therapists and patients may face.
How Do We agree on 'THE' Sensitivity: Discussing approaches to reach an agreement with clients on which sensitivity should be the primary focus of therapy.
What We Hear from Our Clients/Patients: Sharing common themes and feedback that clients express during therapy, which can help in identifying focal sensitivities.
Navigating the Mandatory Strategies: Understanding how mandatory strategies are employed in IPT and their role in managing sensitivities.
Navigating the Focal Area Strategies: Learning how to apply focal area strategies within IPT to effectively address a client’s core sensitivities.
Case Studies: Reviewing real-life case studies to illustrate the practical application of strategies for managing sensitivities and improving therapeutic outcomes.
This workshop aims to provide a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding sensitivities in IPT and strategies to navigate them effectively.
A CPD attendance certificate will be issued following the workshop.
