Is your research truly disruptive with high growth potential?

If the answer is yes to both questions, we would like to invite you to a dedicated workshop about the UK funding landscape and about Innovate UK’s brand-new funding competition, Smart Grants, which has multiple closing dates throughout the year.

In this workshop hosted by IBioIC and run by PNO Consultants, they will discuss the UK’s funding landscape including both UK specific competitions as well as wider European funding opportunities and then undertake an in-depth analysis of Innovate UK’s Smart Grants programme which provides funding to highly disruptive products and services being developed within the UK regardless of sector.

The scheme supports business led projects that aim to develop or demonstrate highly innovative processes, products or services that have the potential to deliver significant business growth. With a budget for the current round of £20 million, the competition is open to all sectors and will support projects at different levels of maturity from initial ideas and proof of concept activity through to advanced prototype development.

During the workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to understand the key requirements of the competition along with tips and tricks of how an application should be presented to stand the best chance of success. The workshop will be delivered by an Innovation Consultant working for the UK operation of an international grants consultancy, who has been working to assist business obtain national and international grant funding since 2015.

Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss your project ideas to qualify alignment to the scheme on a 1-2-1 basis which can be pre-booked.

Agenda will be as follows:

10:00 – 11:00 Introduction to the (UK) Grant Landscape with a focus on Innovate UK’s open sector funding competitions – Smart Grants

An informal discussion into the current status of the UK funding landscape including key competitions, competition requirements, programme scope and funding rates.

An overview of Innovate UK’s leading open sector funding competition, Smart Grants including a discussion surrounding the entire process, eligible costs and an introduction to each of the key questions posed by Innovate UK. Within this discussion, common pitfalls will be covered as well as tip and tricks for the application process to maximise the success rate of applications. 11:00 – 13:30 15 minute 1-2-1 sessions with an Innovation Consultant

Quick 15 minute 1-2-1 sessions can be pre-booked (a small number may be available on the day) with an Innovation Consultant regarding any potential project applications. Discussions will centre around qualifying potential projects within UK funding landscape alongside specific advice about framing a project with the express aim of submitting a project to Innovate UK.
