Event description

Description

If you're nervous about leading a group walk, or being out in the hills on your own - then join us for a day of learning map reading skills.

We will have a complete beginners group for those who’ve never used a map before and an improvers group, for those who are used to map reading on paths but would love to get off the beaten track and explore wilder spaces. Teaching will be at a ratio of 1 to 8.

You will be provided with maps of the area and the course will run irrespective of the weather so come prepared with hiking boots and waterproofs.

It doesn't matter if you've never used a map before, come and join us!

This event is being run as part of Marsden Walking Festival.

10am - meet and identify existing skills

10.15am - groups head off to learn map reading skills and walk around the Colne Valley - expect to cover approximately 10km (6 miles) whilst out walking.

3.45pm - arrive back at the start for debrief.

4.00pm course ends and you go home map reading masters!

Tinkadventures is a registered provider of the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) and all our staff are qualified Mountain Leaders and have experience teaching navigation skills. If you love this and want something more in depth - check out our website for other courses.
