On the 4th of November, we will watch the movie 2040,to find inspiration. After the screening, we will move across platforms and take part in a panel discussion by leading professionals (LINK) .

Why this event:

This event has been designed by our committee member Georgia who is an environmental engineer and UNESCO Special Envoy for Youth & the Environment.
Georgia is an active environmentalist and she is currently leading a case to make incinerators accountable for the pollution they generate. If you want to learn more and support her work, do visit her CrowdJustice campaign (LINK)
The event is for anyone who wishes to be an agent of change within their organisation, from board members and business owners, to graduates and trainees.

The story behind 2040:

Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.

Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.

Now, more than ever, we need positive voices in the ecological crisis. Join us to see director Damon Gameau's 'exercise in fact-based dreaming', 2040. Using only the solutions that are available to us today Damon envisions a positive future for our children and planet.

The film takes a solutions-based approach to how we can, using the technology we already have, mitigate the enormous global issues we currently face. The main themes/solutions looked at in the film are around: empowerment of women and girls; marine regeneration; regenerative agriculture; renewable energy; and circular economy.
