Event Details

As part of the London Festival of Architecture Calendar and coinciding with United Nations Environment Month and NAWIC's own Green Month, The Green Picnic is an event organised in collaboration with Argent Kings Cross and K+N International to discuss the impact and legacy that developments has in local communities.

From the heart of central London's largest development, Kings Cross, Speakers from Argent LLP., Jones Lang LaSalle and Business in the Community will share some case studies to illustrate some of the work that is taking place in our industry and to share how individuals and companies can make a difference through CSR.

***Due to limited availability to this open event, pre-booking is essential***

Picture the scene...It is June...The sun is shining...You have just finished work for the week... Where else would you rather be than Lewis Cubitt Park and our Corporate Social Responsibility picnic?

If you feel like there is more to work and want to be inspired, come along on the 17th June!

We’ll aim to answer the following:

  • What is CSR?
  • What does a good CSR strategy look like?
  • What are the quantifiable benefits and barriers to a good CSR strategy?
  • Can anyone get involved?
  • Can CSR and commercial real estate work?
  • How can company and individuals make a difference?
  • How can your work and contribution leave a legacy?
  • How do you implement a CSR strategy on the scale of Kings Cross? And how does the development benefit the community?

The format will be a 10-minute presentation by each one of the speakers in which each will introduce their work in the context of CSR followed by an open debate.

After this, there will be plenty of opportunities to network and socialise.

Food and drinks are included in the price of the ticket, just bring yourself. We'll even have deck chairs for you.

(UNFORTUNATELY, THE SUN IS NOT SHINNING... WE WOULD, THEREFORE, LIKE TO ASK YOU TO MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE COVERED AREA BETWEEN WAITROSE AND CENTRAL ST MARTINS INSTEAD AS A BACKUP PLAN. PLEASE BRING A JACKET ALONG SHOULD IT GET WINDY!!)

NAWIC LDN & SE

The 2018 Programme of events was formally launched at the NAWIC Christmas Ball on the 4th of December 2017.

"In a multicultural society where the communities we design for and the client bodies we design with are diverse, so should be our teams."

Run entirely by volunteers, NAWIC UK & Ireland is committed to challenging perceptions and encouraging individuals to pursue, establish and sustain successful careers in Construction

Our members are individuals working in an industry they feel passionate about. They thrive in diverse environments and enjoy working as a team in the shaping of the built environment.

As part of one of the longest-running female global networks within construction, LDN & SE ‘s primary aims are to:

- support the development of our members
- influence the retention of women (in construction)
- celebrate their legacy and inspire a new generation

In order to deliver these, we combine our events calendar with a range of projects such as “The image of women in construction” and “The Marketing Toolkit” as well as collaborations with key organisations.
