Event description
From the Ashes - A City Walk Join the National Association of Women in Construction for a networking walking tour of London.

About this event

Join NAWIC London for an informal networking event as we take a walking tour around the City of London.

About the Tour

The City of London was built for and has been run by traders and merchants since the Romans arrived 2000 years ago, it has suffered many catastrophes only to rise again. We start our walk close to Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece which rose from the great fire of 1666 , and we will finish at a memorial to an engineer at Bank. On route we will visit medieval ruins set against roman walls, a 15th century hall juxtaposed to brutalist cement, and glass and steel builds of today. We will also discover the stories of those whose lives and visions helped lay down the rich mosaic known as the Square Mile.

About our guide :

Deb Anderson is a qualified City of London and City of Westminster guide. She was a barristers’ clerk for 40 years working within the Inns of Court.

Conditions:

This event is now open to NAWIC members and Non-Members and is partly funded by NAWIC London. Places are extremely limited, so we are asking for a deposit to reserve your space. Due to Covid related implications, we have limited space to 20 people. We will run a waiting list should the event be fully booked.

Furthermore, because the event is part-funded by NAWIC, there will be no refunds for any cancellation within the last two weeks.

Cancellations up to two weeks before may be refunded should we find a replacement. Cancellation in the last two weeks will not be refunded and we will still look for a replacement (from the waiting list). No shows will be excluded from future NAWIC events for two months*.

Should childcare be an issue, you are welcome to bring your child with you. Please advise the event organisers if this is the case.

*Reasons we would consider reasonable for a no-show are:

  • Having covid or having to self isolate because of Covid exposure (please note this does not include having to be at home self-isolating because of a holiday)
  • Act of God (or Boris) or unforeseeable medical or personal emergency

Finally, goes without saying, if you have Covid at the time of the event or Covid-like symptoms, let us know and please refrain from attending the event
