Give something back this festive season by joining us for our very special open water swim "Boxing Day Splash" Fundraising event and help us raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust!
Entry is £20.00 per person with ALL money going to this amazing cause!
The event is delivered in partnership with Colwick Park Lifeguards and sponsored by Robin Hood Energy and is a great way to burn off that Christmas dinner or make room for those chocolates and mince pies later!
There will be FREE refreshments for all entrants and a medal to celebrate your bravery! There will also be FREE parking too, so your family and friends can come and cheer you on.
All swimmers must wear a coloured swim hat and wet suits are advisable!
What time will the event begin?
The event safety briefing will commence at 11am. The park and adventure centre will be open from 10.30am for people to sign in and get changed ready.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
ID is not required. We ask that all entrants are over the age of 16. Any entrants under the age of 18 must be entering the water with an adult and have a signed waiver from their parent or guardian.
What are my parking options at event?
There is parking next to the Adventure Centre at the lake. Parking is free for this event.
What facitilities are there available?
The Adventure Centre has showers with hot water, toilet facilities and space to sit in the warm for refreshments following the event.
What will be the distance of the swim?
The buoys will be located at a shorter distance than for the summer programme of swims, this is due to the cold temperatures expected for the time of year. It is up to entrants how far they wish to swim, and how long they wish to stay in the water. Even a quick dip and splash counts towards bravery!
Is there somewhere secure to leave belongings?
There are lockers in the changing rooms which can be secured with a £1 coin. There is also space for belongings to be left in the main room where registration takes place. This will be manned during the event. All items left are done so at the risk of the owners, Nottingham City Council and the Colwick Park Lifeguards will not be liable for any loss or damage to possessions left within the centre or surrounding area.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please contact Racheal Webster on firstname.lastname@example.org if you require any further information.
What's the refund policy?
As this is a charity event, tickets will not be refundable following purchase.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, please bring your printed email confirmation to the event.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
The name on the registration should match the name of the person attending to ensure that we can check our records for previously completed waivers.
What do I need to wear?
We advise that a wetsuit is worn for the event as the temperature in the water will be very cold. All swimmers must also wear a brightly coloured swim hat. Swim hats will be available to purchase on the day if you require one.
Can I hire a wetsuit?
We do have some long sleeved wetsuits available and these will be free of charge and on a first come first served basis as there are limited sizes.
What refreshments will be available?
Hot drinks will be available during the event, we aim to have, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mince pies free of charge for all entrants. There is also a vendng machine at the site from which cold drinks can be bought.
