NEARC Pledge Development Workshop

Join us for an exciting event at Newcastle Building Society, 155 - 159 Grainger Street, Newcastle, NE1 5AE where we will be hosting a Pledge Workshop.

NEARC is looking to develop and launch a pledge, for organisations and individuals, to sign up to our movement. This will have a set of key principles and a template for an action plan - with options for employers to set out their own commitments within this pledge.

We would really value your expertise, views and input on the draft pledge plans and a new campaign name which we will be discussing in a focus group being held with organisations who might consider pledging in the future, and others key stakeholders.

We are inviting people from across a wide range of sectors across the region, who have roles involved in decision making processes for their organisation to consider making this pledge. We'd like to hear views on what could work or won't work and gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved in signing up to this pledge and the support required from NEARC before, during, and after pledging.

NEARC is a movement of individuals and organisations of all ethnicities committed to helping to make the North East a region that actively opposes racism and hatred based on religious identity. Since our launch in September 2024, following the summer riots, we have held eight meetings across the region, to develop and implement specific actions towards our goals, with active participation growing from 30 to over 120 people at each event; and a mailing list of nearly 1,000.

The focus group will be held on Friday 9th January between 11am-1.30 pm (followed by lunch).
