The NEBOSH National General Certificate covers all the main legal requirements for Health & Safety in the UK, identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. No previous Health & Safety knowledge is required.
Who Needs This Qualification? The NEBOSH National General Certificate is perfect for Managers, Supervisors, Safety Officers or those interested in pursing a career in Health & Safety.
Why is this Training Important? Accidents and illness can result in disability, death or incapacity for work. The supervisor is in an ideal position to influence, monitor and train employees. They can also ensure that managers are informed, persuaded, encouraged or pressured into providing for better health and safety standards.
Learning Outcomes - The course is divided into 3 modules; Management of Health and Safety, Controlling Workplace Hazards and Process Safety. Management of Health and Safety 1 – Foundations in Health & Safety 2 – Health & Safety Policy 3 – Organising for Health & Safety 4 – Promoting a Positive Health & Safety Culture 5 – Risk Assessment 6 – Principles of Control 7 – Monitoring, Review and Audit 8 – Incident and Accident Investigation, Recording and Reporting Controlling Workplace Hazards 1 – Movement of People and Vehicles 2 – Manual and Mechanical Handling 3 – Work Equipment 4 – Electricity 5 – Fire 6 – Chemical and Biological Health 7 – Physical and Psychological Health Hazards 8 – Construction Activities Process Safety 1 – Foundations of Process Safety 2 – Systems to prevent loss of containment 3 – Common risks and controls 4 – Plant integrity 5 – Emergency response.
Assessment - 2 X 2 hour written examinations, 1 practical exam.
Pre-requisite - None. Although a basic knowledge of health and safety issues such as the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or IOSH Managing Safelyqualification may be of benefit.
Duration - 1 day a week for 12 weeks, followed by 2 x written exams, done in one day and 1 x practical exam.
